Edmodo was an online learning platform used by millions of students, teachers, and schools around the world for sharing educational content, managing classroom communications, and administering assignments and quizzes.
As the sole user researcher at the company, I established a research program that enabled product teams to make data informed product, design, and content decisions, trained and developed research skills in cross-functional partners to increase research project capacity, and organized company-wide periodic communications, events, and activities to cultivate a user-centric culture.
Sample PROJECT
To meet business revenue objectives for acquisition and retention of school and district customers, I worked with product leadership to plan research on the Needs & Goals of School Administrators. By understanding what school administrators need to successfully implement an online learning platform, we helped product teams decide what core features to build for a more self-service product.
Research Goals
- Understand admins’ needs and goals
- Explore ways to organize information used by admins
- Collect feedback on design concepts
MY ROLE
UX Researcher
PROCESS
I conducted 1:1 or small group remote contextual interviews with 6 enterprise customers, which was as many as we could recruit within the timeframe available. Participants were from different organizations of varying sizes and had a mix of platform usage. I moderated the sessions which included qualitative semi-structured questions, a card sort as a form of participatory design, and collecting feedback on Admin Home design concepts.
OUTCOME
The research findings were summarized and presented to product leadership in a live presentation and relevant recommendations were made to the sales, marketing, and customer support teams. As a result of this project, new admin features were rolled out to 100% of enterprise customers with positive user feedback. See visuals from a Sample of Work for this project below.
